K is for Klappertaart

Klappertaart is an Indonesian - Dutch desert (literally, Coconut Tart) 
or in Indonesia we called it Tart Kelapa Muda. 
Very popular in my ancestor land, Manado - North Sulawesi.
It tastes delicious and yummy!
My favorite!!


Want to try it? Here the recipe;

Klappertaart

Ingredients

500 gr young coconut meat
7 egg yolks
3 egg whites
100 gr sugar
150 gr all purpose flour
300 ml evaporated milk
1/2 tsp vanilla essence
150 gr walnuts (thinly sliced)

for topping

4 egg whites
1 tbsp sugar
25 gr raisins
50 gr walnuts (thinly sliced)

Instruction

* Preheat oven to 180'C
* Buttered and floured the cake pan
* Mix the egg yolks, egg whites and sugar with electric mixer until fluffy   
* Add-in flour, evaporated milk, vanilla, walnuts and the young coconut meat, stir it well
* Pour the mixture into the cake pan
* Baked for 20 minutes or until its harden
* Remove the cake pan from the oven
* Stir mixture with a wooden spoon, blend and set aside

for topping
* Beat egg whites and sugar until stiff and shiny
* Pour the mixture into the cake pan
* Put raisins and walnuts as topping
* And baked again for 15 minutes or until they turn golden



 : 90 minutes         : 8 people      : Cool

  6. It sounds really good, Amiko. It seems from the ingredients and the picture that it might be a little fattening unless one had a very small piece. If I every see it in the states, I will order one. I think that perhaps our Indian restaurants will have them.
